Week 10 of the NFL season had its ups and downs. We saw some big plays on both sides of the ball, but the injury monster continues to ravage NFL locker rooms. Week 11 is here, and Thursday Night Football lived up to expectations and gave us a New England Patriots showcase. Looking ahead to this weekend, we will take a look at five players fantasy managers should do their best to plug into their lineups and five others who are better left on benches despite promising upside. Let’s dig in.
Fantasy Football IDP Start/Sit Week 11
Start em
SirVocea Dennis (LB – TB)
SirVocea showed up in Week 9, racking up four solos, three assists, one sack, and one tackle for loss. Dennis has been on a mini tear for IDP managers, checking in as the LB2 overall over his last three games. Count the Buccaneers linebacker as an upside LB2 option as long as he is cooking. Start SirVocea with confidence in leagues of all sizes.
Danielle Hunter (DE – HOU)
Hunter exploded in Week 10, going off with five solos, two assists, 3.5 sacks, four tackles for loss, and one forced fumble. The sacks have come in bunches for Hunter this season, who has recorded all of his 7.5 sacks in three of his nine games played. The true definition of boom or bust, Hunter had slipped to the DL2 realm before this outburst. This outing reminds us of why you don’t sit your studs, especially at a position noted for its inconsistency. Danielle had two sacks against this week’s opponent back in Week 4. Fire Hunter up as a top-12 option for a plus Week 11 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.
Donovan Ezeiruaku (DE – DAL)
Donovan Ezeiruaku showed up in Week 9, racking up two solos, one assist, one sack, and one tackle for loss on a season high 76 percent of the snaps. Donovan has now recorded a sack in two of his last three games and is finally making good on his strong pressure rate. He should see his snaps scaled back in Week 11 if Dante Fowler is active as expected, but is still an intriguing DL3 piece moving forward. Start him with confidence where needed for a plus Week 11 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Keeanu Benton (DT/DE – PIT)
Keeanu Benton was excellent in Week 10, racking up three solos, four assists, one sack, and two tackles for loss. Benton has started to catch fire for the Steelers, recording a sack in three of his last four games. Now up to 4.5 sacks on the season, Keeanu has registered all of them in a six game span. Fire Benton up as a DT1/DL3 option as long as he is cooking. Start him with confidence for a plus Week 11 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals.
DaRon Bland (CB – DAL)
DaRon Bland was excellent in Week 9, racking up six solos, eight assists, and one pass defended. Bland has been making good on his CB1 status and has been pushing his way into the DB2 conversation over his last three games. The DB2 overall during that three game span, Bland can be a difference maker down the stretch. Tap him as a DB3 with obvious DB2 upside for a plus Week 11 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Sit em
Kyle Hamilton (S – BAL)
Hamilton disappointed in Week 10, managing just one assist and two passes defended. There was hope for the talented defensive back while he was at free safety, but now that he is in the slot, we will just have to accept that the best safety in the league is not very productive in IDP this year. While this is not an outright sit suggestion, he can no longer be trusted as a DB1 option. This means fantasy managers should be looking elsewhere in novelty leagues. Continue to treat Hamilton as a high upside, low floor DB2 option for a plus Week 11 matchup against the Cleveland Browns, where needed.
Antonio Johnson (S – JAC)
Antonio Johnson showed up in Week 10, notching three solos, three assists, one sack, one tackle for loss, and one pass defended. Johnson has stepped into a starter’s role since Eric Murray (neck) has been sidelined and makes for a strong option in 20+ team leagues. For those in 12-team formats, Johnson still has not shown enough to be considered. Stash where roster space allows, but keep him far from lineups for Week 11.
Tyrice Knight (LB – SEA)
Tyrice went off in Week 10, tallying six solos, two assists, two sacks, three tackles for loss, and two forced fumbles. The linebacker got the start with Ernest Jones (knee) sidelined and looked excellent in his spot start, at least IDP production wise. His issues in pass coverage are attributed to why he lost his job to Drake Thomas, and Drake has done nothing to relinquish the role since taking over. Knight is now an elite spot starter if Jones or Thomas misses time, but with the former returning to practice, albeit in a limited fashion, on a Wednesday, there is a strong possibility that he is playing this weekend. Coaches typically do not allow injured players, especially veterans, to practice on Wednesday if they are dealing with an injury that is expected to keep them out that week. Fantasy managers should make other plans for their Week 11 LB3.
Mykal Walker (LB – NYJ)
Walker started over the demoted Quincy Williams in Week 10, but wound up playing just 29 percent of the snaps while Quincy had his best fantasy game of the season. Walker getting the nod over Kiko Mauiga likely only happened due to Kiko still being in concussion protocol, so feel free to drop Walker altogether. Look elsewhere for your Week 11 LB3/4.
Charles Snowden (DE – LV)
Snowden was excellent in Week 10, stacking five solos, one assist, one sack, one tackle for loss, and one pass defended. The sack was the first of the season for Snowden, who played a season-high 44 percent of the snaps against the Broncos. We will need to see more from Snowden before plugging him into lineups outside of bye week filler situations in 32-team leagues. Look elsewhere for Week 11, despite the strong Week 10 production.
