Another week of hockey is in the books, and if you’re looking to reevaluate your team and bolster your roster, then you’ve come to the right place. Below, I’ve listed four must-add players for any fantasy hockey team. Here are my top fantasy hockey waiver wire pickups heading into Week 5.
NHL Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Advice (Week 5)
(Rosterships courtesy of ESPN)
Troy Terry (F – ANA) | 43.3% Rostered
Ducks head coach Joel Quenneville is refining this young Anaheim core, and he has the Ducks out to a 7-3-1 start this season. Their offense is electric, and I’m shocked to see Troy Terry is only rostered in 43.3% of leagues.
Terry is second on the team in scoring (five goals, eight assists) and third in shots on goal (SOG) with 26. Terry is slotted on the top line with Leo Carlsson and Chris Kreider, and he’s also on the main power-play group, which is cashing at a respectable 19.1% this season.
Anthony Mantha (F – PIT) | 24.1% Rostered
Winger Anthony Mantha has been on the cusp of breaking out for years now, but perhaps he has finally found a home playing alongside the crafty Evgeni Malkin. Mantha is second on the Penguins in goals (six) and has 11 points in total.
His 24 SOG are the fourth-most on the roster. I don’t expect Mantha to become a point-per-game player, but I also think a 60-point season is within the realm of possibilities. Mantha should make a decent depth option as long as he continues getting time with Malkin.
Corey Perry (F – LAK) | 7.4% Rostered
Los Angeles’ Corey Perry continues to produce at the age of 40. He enters the new week with seven points (five goals, two assists) in seven games. Perry has been ripping pucks on net, averaging 2.7 shots on goal per game (SOG/G) this year.
Perry is currently listed on the Kings’ fourth line, which I don’t love, but I do like that he’s getting time on the second power-play unit. If you’re in a larger league and need some depth scoring, Perry is definitely worth a flier.
Lukas Dostal (G – ANA) | 50.2% Rostered
If you can’t tell, I believe in this young Ducks team. If you need to fortify your goaltending, Lukas Dostal could be your man. Dostal ranks sixth in wins (5-3-1), 14th in GAA (2.55) and eighth in SV% (.916)
Dostal leads the NHL in goals saved above expected (11.1). He has been waiting patiently behind John Gibson for years, but with his departure to Detroit, it’s time for Dostal to shine.
