Week 13 of the NFL season had its ups and downs. We saw some big plays on both sides of the ball, but the injury monster continues to ravage NFL locker rooms. Week 13 is here, and Thursday Night Football delivered an exciting matchup that showcased the strengths and weaknesses of both teams’ units on both sides of the ball. Looking ahead to this weekend, we will take a look at five players fantasy managers should do their best to plug into their lineups and five others who are better left on benches despite promising upside. Let’s dig in.
Fantasy Football IDP Start/Sit Week 14
Start em
Germaine Pratt (LB – IND)
Pratt stayed hot in Week 13, tallying five solos, four assists, one forced fumble, and one pass defended. Pratt has been a revelation for the Colts, giving the defense a reliable option to pair with top linebacker Zaire Franklin. The LB3 in fppg since he joined the Colts in Week 6, tap Pratt as a top-15 option for a plus Week 14 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Carson Schwesinger (LB – CLE)
Carson showed up again in Week 13, posting five solos, five assists, and one tackle for loss. Schwesinger has been elite since Week 10, checking in as the LB1 in fppg during that span. Fire the rookie up as an elite LB2 option for a plus Week 14 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.
DeMarcus Lawrence (DE – SEA)
DeMarcus Lawrence showed up in Week 13, posting two solos, one sack, one tackle for loss, and one forced fumble. Now up to five sacks on the season, Lawrence remains a boom-or-bust play but has been pushing for DL1 value over his past six games, checking in as the DL7 in fppg since Week 6. Treat him as a strong top-25 option for a plus Week 14 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.
Andrew Van Ginkel (DE/LB – MIN)
Andrew Van Ginkel showed up in Week 13, racking up three solos, two assists, one sack, and one tackle for loss. AVG has battled injuries this season but seems to finally be rounding back into form, recording a sack in two of his last three games. Tap the veteran pass rusher as a DL3 option for a plus Week 14 matchup against Washington.
Mike Hughes (CB – ATL)
Mike Hughes showed up again in Week 13, posting six solos and one assist. Hughes has now registered six solos in back-to-back games, putting him on the DB3 periphery for a plus Week 14 matchup against a faltering Seattle Seahawks offense. Tap the Falcons corner as a top-36 option where needed.
Sit em
Malik Harrison (LB – PIT)
Harrison showed up in Week 13, notching six solos and two assists. Malik saw an expanded role with Patrick Queen suffering a hip injury and Cole Holcomb (illness) already sidelined. Harrison becomes a sneaky LB3 option if both linebackers miss time, but is fourth on the depth chart behind Payton Wilson, Queen, and Holcomb. With Queen back at practice on Thursday after missing Wednesday’s session, there is a strong likelihood he will be suiting up to face his former team in a matchup that could very well decide the first seed in the AFC North when it’s all said and done. Look elsewhere for Week 14 if Queen suits up as expected.
Chop Robinson (DE/LB – MIA)
Chip Robinson showed up in Week 14, stacking up two solos, three assists, 1.5 sacks, and one tackle for loss. Chop has been a virtual non-factor on the season, with this being his first sack since Week 2. The talent is there, but it still hasn’t come together for the Dolphins’ edge rusher. Look elsewhere despite the plus Week 14 matchup against the New York Jets.
Christian Benford (CB – BUF)
Christian Benford was excellent in Week 13, racking up one solo, one assist, one tackle for loss, one interception, one pass defended, one fumble recovery, and one touchdown. Benford was elite in Week 13, but has only had a few other performances of note on the season, keeping him off the radar for those in DB leagues. Look elsewhere for your Week 14 DB3.
Tony Adams (S – NYJ)
Tony Adams showed up in Week 13, tallying three solos, two assists, one sack, and one tackle for loss. Admas hasn’t been much of a fantasy producer for the Jets this season and can continue to be treated as bench depth despite posting two strong outings in his last four games. Look elsewhere for Week 14 despite the encouraging production and the tasty matchup against the Miami Dolphins.
Jaylen Watson (CB – KC)
Jaylen Watson showed up in Week 13, reeling off six solos, one interception, and one pass defended. Watson has posted a few spike weeks on the season, but has been a virtual non-factor in the rest of the games. He is an option for those in CB leagues, but 12-team DB league managers should look elsewhere for Week 14.
