Fantasy Baseball 10 Burning Questions
1. Is Jac Caglianone finally getting hot at the plate?
Jac Caglianone came into the 2026 season with high expectations, but he’s been underwhelming so far, slashing .257/.342/.446 with four home runs in 114 plate appearances.
However, he’s still hitting the ball hard, and those four homers came in the last 12 games. This is a top prospect with elite raw power, so it’s only a matter of time before he catches fire.
2. How good is Kazuma Okamoto?
Kazuma Okamoto got off to a putrid start at the plate, but he’s on fire right now, clearly adjusting to big league pitchers. Okamoto now has 10 homers on the season.
While batting average can be an issue with a near-30 percent strikeout rate, you have to be happy if you held on or bought low. We could see .240 BA with 30 homers this year.
3. What to make of Sal Stewart’s cold streak?
Sal Stewart got off to a torrid start at the plate this year, but he’s now gone 3-for-33 in his last eight games. However, I view this as ebbs and flows of a long season.
There are going to be times when Stewart gets into slumps. The fact is, this is a rookie with an advanced approach at the plate, as highlighted by a sub-20 percent strikeout rate. I still consider him an elite bat moving forward.
4. Is Ozzie Albies back?
Ozzie Albies is off to a terrific start this season, slashing .331/.381/.561 with eight home runs in 155 plate appearances. You have to be impressed with the sub-12 percent strikeout rate here.
Remember, despite recent down seasons (largely due to injury), Albies has a strong track record. Consider him an elite second baseman right now. This is the classic case of a veteran hitter getting back to top form.
5. Is Miguel Vargas breaking out?
Miguel Vargas is off to a strong start this year, slashing .228/.360/.447 with seven home runs and five stolen bases. You have to like the 16.0 percent walk rate and 17.3 percent strikeout rate.
This looks like a clear breakout season. The uptick in stolen bases makes 20-20 possible, which is valuable from a corner infielder.
6. What to make of Justin Wrobleski?
Justin Wrobleski is crushing it right now, putting up a 1.25 ERA in 36 innings. But the 10.5 percent strikeout rate is concerning. Regression is likely to hit hard at some point.
However, it’s a good idea to just ride the wave right now. Just don’t expect a breakout.
7. Is Bryce Elder breaking out?
Bryce Elder has a 1.88 ERA on the season. The underlying metrics look strong as well, including a 2.98 xERA. However, the middling strikeout rate (20.9 percent) makes me skeptical of a true breakout.
More likely, you just have a veteran pitcher in a rhythm, so ride the wave while he’s running hot.
8. Is Max Meyer for real?
There’s a chance that Max Meyer is starting to figure it out, as he’s allowed one unearned run in his last two outings, racking up 12 strikeouts in 12 innings during that stretch.
Meyer has the most upside of this group due to strikeout rate (26.0 K percent). Make sure he’s not sitting on your waiver wire.
9. What’s up with Janson Junk?
Janson Junk is on a roll for the Marlins, allowing one earned run or fewer in three consecutive outings. The 103 Stuff+ and 110 Location+ look good.
Junk doesn’t get many strikeouts, but he’s worth rolling with while he’s in this good of a rhythm.
10. Is Sean Burke for real?
Sean Burke hasn’t allowed an earned run in back-to-back outings, spanning 13.1 innings. The 3.75 SIERA is a lot higher than his 2.72 ERA, but Burke can be an effective pitcher.
The White Sox are better than expected, which helps with Burke’s fantasy value as well.
