Finding impactful hitters on the fantasy baseball waiver wire gets harder as the season moves toward the All-Star break.
Many of the obvious breakout candidates have already been scooped up, leaving fantasy managers to search for players who can provide category help now or prospects who could make an immediate impact after a promotion.
In a recent FantasyPros discussion, Joey P and The Welsh highlighted four hitters they believe deserve attention this week. Two are producing in the majors right now, while two others are stash candidates who could become much more expensive once the post-All-Star prospect promotions begin.

4 Fantasy Baseball Hitters to Add Before the Rest of Your League Catches On
Here’s why these names belong on your radar.
Kyle Karros (3B – COL)
Kyle Karros has quietly become one of the hottest hitters available in deeper fantasy leagues.
Joey P admitted Karros wasn’t necessarily a player he expected to be discussing earlier in the season, but his recent production has made him impossible to ignore.
Over the past month, Karros has consistently put the ball in play while posting an impressive batting average and on-base percentage. Just as importantly, he’s done it without an alarming strikeout rate.
The power isn’t overwhelming, and Joey P was quick to acknowledge that.
Instead, Karros’ value comes from filling multiple categories while helping fantasy managers in one of the toughest areas to improve during the season: batting average.
Eligible at third base, Karros profiles as a useful corner infield option, particularly in deeper roto and points formats where consistent production often outweighs chasing pure home run upside.
Jake Burger (1B – TEX)
Sometimes the best waiver additions are simply productive veterans who have become overlooked.
That’s exactly how The Welsh views Jake Burger.
Burger has quietly settled into the middle of Texas’ lineup while delivering the combination fantasy managers expect from a corner infielder: steady power with respectable run production.
The Welsh emphasized that Burger has become one of the Rangers’ most reliable offensive contributors over the past month, continuing to provide home run upside while improving his overall quality of contact.
He also noted improvements in Burger’s bat speed, suggesting there could still be room for additional production during the second half.
Finding dependable corner infield production isn’t always easy.
Burger may not offer elite upside, but he provides the type of stable power profile that fits comfortably into almost any fantasy roster.
Charlie Condon (1B – COL)
If you’re looking ahead instead of simply reacting to this week’s box scores, Charlie Condon may be one of the best stash candidates available.
Joey P doesn’t expect Colorado to promote him immediately, especially with the Futures Game approaching.
That timing is exactly why he wants fantasy managers to add Condon now.
The Rockies prospect has nothing left to prove offensively at Triple-A. He’s continued to pile up extra-base hits, home runs, and run production while maintaining excellent overall numbers throughout the season.
Joey P also pointed to Condon’s success in the Arizona Fall League as additional evidence that this isn’t simply a product of the Pacific Coast League environment.
His advice was straightforward.
Add Condon before the hype arrives.
A strong showing during Futures Game coverage or another hot stretch in Triple-A could quickly send fantasy managers scrambling to the waiver wire, driving up both interest and FAAB costs.
Esmerlyn Valdez (OF – PIT)
Among the four hitters discussed, Esmerlyn Valdez may possess the highest raw power ceiling.
The Welsh highlighted several underlying metrics that help explain why Valdez’s recent production isn’t simply a lucky streak.
His barrel rate, hard-hit rate, launch angle, and ability to pull the baseball all stand out as indicators of legitimate power.
The strikeout rate remains the biggest concern.
However, The Welsh noted that Valdez has consistently shown solid plate discipline and doesn’t chase pitches outside the strike zone nearly as often as many high-strikeout hitters.
Instead, much of the swing-and-miss comes from pitches inside the zone rather than poor swing decisions.
That combination gives The Welsh confidence that Valdez’s batting average should eventually stabilize while allowing his power to remain his defining fantasy tool.
If you’re chasing home runs during the second half, Valdez offers one of the more intriguing upside plays currently available.
Get Ahead of the Post-All-Star Rush
One of the biggest themes throughout the discussion was timing.
With the All-Star break approaching, prospect promotions often follow shortly afterward.
Waiting until those promotions become official usually means competing against the rest of your league in aggressive FAAB bidding.
By adding players like Charlie Condon now or capitalizing on the recent production of hitters like Kyle Karros and Jake Burger, fantasy managers may be able to improve their roster before the waiver wire becomes significantly more competitive.
