Fantasy Baseball Prospects to Stash: Week 16

With the All-Star break now behind us, fantasy managers are entering the home stretch of the season. At this point, every owner is searching for an edge. While stashing fantasy baseball prospects is never a guaranteed path to success, it can provide a significant advantage, especially if your league’s waiver wire has already been picked clean.

Last week’s stash list saw one promotion, as Mitch Bratt finally earned another opportunity in the Majors. Although his second MLB debut didn’t go particularly well, it did come against the Dodgers, so it’s far too early to draw any major conclusions.

Fantasy Baseball Prospects to Stash

Here are 10 prospects who could provide a boost during the second half and, hopefully, help you not only secure a playoff spot but also make a championship run.

Charlie Condon (1B, OF – COL) | Top 100 Prospect Ranking: 75

Current Level: Triple-A
ETA: July

Charlie Condon has looked much more comfortable at Triple-A over the past couple of weeks, flashing the power that made him one of the premier bats in the 2024 MLB Draft. Over his last 10 games, he’s hitting .395 with five home runs.

Furthermore, Colorado opens the second half with a lengthy homestand at Coors Field, making the timing especially intriguing. A debut before the end of July feels increasingly realistic. Condon’s combination of elite power and Coors Field upside makes him one of the best hitter stashes.

Joshua Baez (OF – STL) | Top 100 Prospect Ranking: 65

Current Level: Triple-A

Joshua Baez continues to be one of the more fascinating upside plays in the minors. His raw power is undeniable, and when he gets hot, very few hitters can match the quality of his contact.

Of course, strikeouts remain part of his profile. However, Baez could quickly force his way into the conversation if he finishes July on a strong note. Dynasty managers should already have him rostered, but he’s becoming an increasingly attractive stash in deeper redraft leagues as well. Baez seems to be just one hot streak away from making his MLB debut.

Walker Jenkins (OF – MIN) | Top 100 Prospect Ranking: 11

Current Level: Triple-A
ETA: July/August

Few prospects possess Walker Jenkins’ combination of hitting ability, power and maturity at the plate. He continues to produce quality at-bats while spraying line drives all over the field. More importantly, the extra-base hits keep piling up, as he has collected eight over his last 10 games, including three home runs.

Meanwhile, Minnesota remains firmly in the playoff race. Adding a bat with Jenkins’ upside could provide a major boost down the stretch. He’s one of the safest impact bats remaining in the minors and should already be rostered in nearly every competitive dynasty league. Even in 12-team or deeper redraft leagues, I’d be willing to stash Jenkins because of his enormous upside.

Kade Anderson (SP – SEA) | Top 100 Prospect Ranking: 6

Current Level: Triple-A
ETA: July/August

Seattle continues to develop Kade Anderson carefully, but every outing reinforces why many evaluators believe he’ll eventually become a frontline starter. His fastball generates plenty of swings and misses, his breaking pitches continue to improve and his command has advanced remarkably for a pitcher his age.

Additionally, the Mariners have shown in the past that they aren’t afraid to aggressively promote elite pitching prospects. Rather than spending much time in Triple-A, Anderson could realistically jump directly to Seattle later this summer if the club needs rotation help.

Anderson’s strikeout upside alone makes him one of the premier pitching stashes. Furthermore, with Emerson Hancock potentially headed to the injured list (IL), I’d keep my eyes and ears open. If Anderson is available, I’d add him to just about every format.

Max Anderson (2B – DET) | Top 100 Prospect Ranking: Unranked

Max Anderson continues to quietly force his way into Detroit’s plans. His contact skills have been outstanding recently, and he’s seeing the ball exceptionally well. Over his last 10 games, his strikeouts and walks are the same — six each.

Although he doesn’t receive the same national attention as other Tigers prospects, Anderson’s consistent production makes him one of the organization’s most MLB-ready infielders. If Detroit needs another right-handed bat during the second half, Anderson appears well-positioned to receive the call.

Ty Johnson (SP – TBR) | Top 100 Prospect Ranking: Unranked

Current Level: Triple-A
ETA: July/August

Ty Johnson remains one of the most overlooked pitching prospects for fantasy purposes. His strikeout numbers continue to jump off the page, and his ability to consistently pound the strike zone has allowed him to work deep into games. Johnson has pitched at least five innings in each of his last three starts while striking out nine batters in every one of those outings.

Johnson may not arrive with the same fanfare as some of the bigger names, but he has legitimate fantasy value thanks to his strikeout upside and excellent command. As a result, he’s well worth a look in deeper leagues.

Additional Fantasy Baseball Prospects to Consider

Max Clark (OF – DET) | Top 100 Prospect Ranking: 7

Current Level: Triple-A
ETA: July/August

Max Clark’s elite speed, outstanding plate discipline and steadily improving power have elevated him into one of baseball’s premier prospects. Although his Triple-A numbers don’t immediately jump off the page, I wouldn’t be surprised if he takes off once he reaches the Majors.

The talent is very real, and I’d be willing to gamble that Clark becomes an extremely valuable fantasy contributor during the second half. After all, his ability to contribute across nearly every fantasy category gives him one of the highest ceilings of any stash on this list.

Ralphy Velazquez (1B, OF – CLE) | Top 100 Prospect Ranking: 37

Current Level: Triple-A
ETA: August

Ralphy Velazquez continues to impress with both his power and his overall offensive development. While the strikeouts were a little elevated over his last 10 games, he’s still striking out at just a 24% clip in Triple-A. Considering his power potential, that’s a very manageable strikeout rate.

In addition, Cleveland has expanded his defensive versatility by giving him more work in the outfield, creating multiple paths to everyday playing time. If you miss out on Charlie Condon, I’d strongly consider turning your attention to Velazquez.

Angel Genao (SS – CLE) | Top 100 Prospect Ranking: 41

Current Level: Triple-A
ETA: August

The switch-hitting shortstop combines advanced bat-to-ball skills with excellent instincts on the bases and enough defensive ability to remain at shortstop long term. Angel Genao’s offensive consistency has continued to trend upward, making him an intriguing candidate for a second-half promotion.

Moreover, if Brayan Rocchio struggles at any point during the second half, Cleveland could already have his replacement waiting in Genao.

Quinn Mathews (SP – STL) | Top 100 Prospect Ranking: Unranked

Current Level: Triple-A
ETA: July/August

The left-hander continues to dominate with an excellent fastball/change-up combination while consistently generating strikeouts. Quinn Mathews’ ability to miss bats, work efficiently and limit hard contact has only strengthened his case for a promotion.

Over his last two starts, Mathews has thrown a combined 13 innings while recording 14 strikeouts and issuing just two walks. The Cardinals still have decisions to make as the trade deadline approaches.

However, whether a trade opens a rotation spot or the club simply needs another arm, Mathews appears to be next in line. He’s an excellent stash in deeper leagues, particularly for fantasy managers looking to add strikeout upside for the stretch run.
