6 Fantasy Baseball Risers & Fallers: Week 19 (2026)

Welcome to our weekly fantasy baseball risers and fallers column. In this article, I’ll identify three risers and three fallers based on what transpired over the previous week.

Given that we’re in the second half of the season, there are more options to choose from. We know how managers are deploying their players, with some surprisingly receiving less playing time than initially expected. We also have a few young hitters who are making their presence felt immediately.

Without further ado, let’s find out who this week’s biggest risers and fallers are.

Kevin Gausman (SP – CHC)

Kevin Gausman was dealt to the Chicago Cubs at the trade deadline. This gives him a boost in fantasy value, since he’ll be playing for a playoff contender, giving him more opportunities for wins. On top of that, Gausman gets to play in front of an excellent Cubs defense, which could help his ratios.

Jose Soriano (SP – TOR)

Jose Soriano joins a Blue Jays organization that has unlocked Dylan Cease, turning him into an AL Cy Young favorite. I expect them to bring out more value out of Soriano as well. Leaving the Angels is a major boost, even if the Blue Jays are among the most disappointing teams in MLB this year.

Luis Garcia Jr. (1B, 2B – NYY)

Luis Garcia Jr. was already having a breakout season for the Nationals. Now, he gets to play at Yankee Stadium, which has a short porch in right field. It’s a major boost in home ballpark, since Garcia is a left-handed hitter. I know the Nats were hitting well, but they were exceeding expectations. Joining the Yankees is huge for Garcia.

Reid Detmers (SP – LAA)

The hope was that Reid Detmers would be dealt to a contender at the deadline, but the Angels had too rich a price on him. That means that Detmers will continue to pitch for a bottom-feeder, limiting his chances at wins. With that in mind, we have no choice but to bump down Detmers for the rest of the season.

Shane Bieber (SP – TOR)

Shane Bieber was expected to be traded to a contender at the deadline, but he’ll remain with the Blue Jays, who are merely playing out the year, falling further behind in the AL Wild Card race. It would have been preferred if Bieber was traded to a spot where he’d have a chance at more wins.

George Springer (OF – TOR)

George Springer is having a disappointing encore to his incredible resurgence from last year. There were rumors that he could have been traded to the Red Sox, which would have given him a boost in value. Playing with the Jays’ lethargic offense has been bad for his counting stats.
