Closer News & Notes

  • Bryan Baker maintains the lead in saves with 34. Cade Smith, Riley O’Brien and Mason Miller follow as the other closers in with at least 30 saves.
  • Riley O’Brien, Louis Varland, and Jordan Romano lead baseball in the past seven days, entering Friday with three saves each.
  • It was a brutal week for Edwin Diaz with three blown saves. He remains the closer for the Dodgers for now, but it’s a situation to monitor if his struggles continue.
  • Devin Williams landed on the injured list (IL) with a right shoulder strain. The Mets bullpen turns to a committee for saves.
