Corey Seager (SS - TEX)
Wed, Mar 17
Player Note on Corey Seager (SS - TEX)
Has as good a chance as anyone to be in first round 2022 draft conversations next season, as long as he can stay healthy. A true superstar breakout is on the horizon.
Jeimer Candelario (1B,3B - DET)
Wed, Mar 17
Player Note on Jeimer Candelario (1B,3B - DET)
Broke out in 2020 and not many people are buying into it. Let us not forget that Candelario was a solid prospect and the best part of his profile was his bat. The question was not if he would hit in the majors, it was if he would be a good enough fielder. It took some time to get here, but I am not sure his 2020 was a fluke. He should provide solid value at his late ADP.
J.D. Davis (3B,LF,DH - NYM)
Wed, Mar 17
Player Note on J.D. Davis (3B,LF,DH - NYM)
JD Davis is a very underrated hitter folks, and he is the starting 3B for the Mets. He will hit and his ADP is silly. Draft him.
Nolan Arenado (3B - STL)
Wed, Mar 17
Player Note on Nolan Arenado (3B - STL)
The concern around Arenado leaving Coors may seem a bit overstated, but it is a legitimate concern. He has always been a superior hitter playing in Colorado and his statcast data has been on a steady decline for several years now. He is not someone I have been targeting in drafts.
Cavan Biggio (2B,3B,RF - TOR)
Wed, Mar 17
Player Note on Cavan Biggio (2B,3B,RF - TOR)
Too many holes in Biggio's batting profile for me to draft him at his inflated ADP. It also looks like he will open the season batting 7th which is not ideal as I do not see him hitting his way into a top 3 spot in the order.
Kike Hernandez (2B,SS,LF,CF,RF - BOS)
Wed, Mar 17
Player Note on Kike Hernandez (2B,SS,LF,CF,RF - BOS)
Kike landed in a pretty great spot in Boston as he should see close to everyday playing time batting at the top of the order. He has always been a solid producer when given the chance to play, so I am excited to see how he performs now that he has a starting spot all to himself for the first time. Potential for solid runs, 20+ HRs and a handful of SBs very late in drafts. He is being undervalued.
Dylan Moore (2B,3B,SS,LF,RF - SEA)
Wed, Mar 17
Player Note on Dylan Moore (2B,3B,SS,LF,RF - SEA)
You don't find 20/20 potential players after ADP 100 very often. For that reason alone, Moore is worth a gamble. Not to mention Shed Long continues to deal with injuries, so Moore is all but locked into the starting spot (if it was ever truly in doubt).
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (1B,2B,DH,LF - TOR)
Wed, Mar 17
Player Note on Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (1B,2B,DH,LF - TOR)
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. is yet to play in over 84 games in a season due to injuries and the shortened season, so his numbers do not jump off the page on first glance. That is likely why his ADP is not a couple rounds higher. If you look at his past two seasons combined, a total of 149 games, we are looking at a .280 hitter with 82 runs, 31 HRs and 7 SBs. Now he gets an improved lineup around him as well. Very nice pick at ADP. Just have to hope he stays healthy.
Keston Hiura (1B,2B,DH - MIL)
Wed, Mar 17
Player Note on Keston Hiura (1B,2B,DH - MIL)
Keston Hiura is clearly one of the most volatile players in 2021 drafts. He had a tremendous rookie season, only to come crashing back down to earth in 2020. The main culprit of this downturn was his very high strikeout rate, which has since carried over into spring training. Hiura has always been considered a bat first prospect and has a clear path to 30+ HRs and 15+ SBs, however, he is going to need to cut down on his strikeouts and put the ball in play more often. If he is able to get back into 2019 form, or even close to it, he will be a steal at ADP, if he doesn't, well, he will be a frustrating player to trust. Risk/Reward here with Hiura, and I side with the risk.
Ketel Marte (2B,SS,CF - ARI)
Tue, Mar 16
Player Note on Ketel Marte (2B,SS,CF - ARI)
One of the best players in 2019 has dropped significantly in ADP despite a still decent 2020. I am buying the dip.
