Ivan Nova remains on track for June return

by Christopher Carelli | Wed, Feb 11th 1:42pm EST

New York Yankees right-hander Ivan Nova (rehabbing - Tommy John surgery) has advanced to tossing from 120 feet according to Dan Martin of the New York Post. Nova says he is pain-free and expects to be back on a Major League mound by June. (New York Post)

Fantasy Impact:

Initial estimations for Nova’s return had been pegged to be around late May or early June, so it sounds like he feels he is on track. Nova appeared in just four games (all starts) in 2014 before sustaining his elbow injury. The results were not pretty – 8.27 ERA (6.91 FIP), 1.83 WHIP and just 12 K in 20.2 innings. Nova, 28, has had modest success during his career, but has often been derailed by inconsistency. Nova is not worthy of drafting and stashing on your disabled list, but it’s a good idea to keep tabs on his progress and be ready to make a waiver-wire move if needed later this season.
