Baltimore Orioles signed infielder Jayson Nix to a minor league contract that will pay $750,000 if he makes the Major league roster with another $50,000 in incentives,. Nix spent time with the Phillies, Pirates and Royals last season, batting .120/.169/.157 in 91 plate appearances. (MLB Trade Rumors)
Fantasy Impact:
The Orioles wanted to add depth to the infield and this 32-year old has experience playing all infield positions. However, with Manny Machado, J.J. Hardy and Ryan Flagherty on board, he might not get any playing time and get bounced around again. With his slumping 2013 and 2014 seasons and his lack of consistency, he will probably be used as a backup if he makes the major league roster.
