Greg Bird signs minor league deal with Rockies

The Colorado Rockies signed 28-year-old first baseman Greg Bird to a minor league contract - with a major league invite to spring training - on Thursday. (Thomas Harding via Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

The former Yankees prospect and perennial fantasy sleeper did not appear in the majors last season as a member of the Rangers and Phillies organizations. Bird has 32 career HR with 98 RBI across 186 games since 2015. He will compete for a roster spot in Colorado and could again find himself on fantasy sleeper lists in deeper leagues if he has an impressive spring training, given the favorable ballpark and the lack of a clear option at first base for the Rockies. He's simply a name to keep on your radar for the time being.
