Carlos Quentin agrees to minor league deal with Seattle Mariners

Former Padres slugger Carlos Quentin has agreed to terms with the Seattle Mariners on a minor-league contract. (Bob Dutton Tacoma News Tribune)

Fantasy Impact:

The deal has an opt-out date of May 12th if Quentin does not get called up, per Jon Heyman of CBSSports. It's a deal that provides little risk to the Mariners, but if Quentin could show flashes of his play from 2008-11 when he was with the White Sox, averaging 27 HR and 80 RBI, it could provide depth to their roster. His fantasy impact will be minimal, if he does get called up, he'll be strictly platooning DH, maybe 1B against lefties. Monitor his progress going forward.
