Giovanny Gallegos serves up game-tying home run to Austin Riley on Thursday

by Lucas Spence | Thu, Aug 5th 11:56pm EDT

Cardinals set-up man Giovanny Gallegos surrendered three hits and three earned runs in just 2/3 of an inning while being charged with his seventh blown save of the season on Thursday night in a loss to the Braves.

Fantasy Impact:

Gallegos was nursing a 4-2 lead in the eighth inning and recorded two quick outs before giving a two-out single to Freddie Freeman. Gallegos then hung a slider to Austin Riley who lined a two-run home run to left field to tie the game. Gallegos then served up a double to Dansby Swanson before being removed from the game. That third run would come around to score against Alex Reyes, saddling Gallegos with his fifth loss on the year. Gallegos has now given up three earned runs in back-to-back outings while his ERA has climbed to 3.36 on the season (with an impressive 0.82 WHIP). The 29-year-old right-hander remains a solid fantasy option in leagues that utilize holds, but he’s surely had a rough week.
