Matt Andriese inks one-year deal with Seattle

The Mariners have signed relief pitcher Matt Andriese to a one-year contract. The deal runs through the remainder of the 2021 regular season. (Mariners PR on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Andriese was recently released by the Red Sox but will get a second chance with Seattle. The Mariners re-shuffled their bullpen at the trade deadline and have struggled since then. The team's poor pitching has been exposed even more as of late; over their last two games, the Mariners have been outscored by the Astros, 27-4. The hope is that Andriese can help to eat innings and provide veteran experience down the stretch. He struggled in Boston, going 2-3 with a 6.03 ERA, 1.77 WHIP, and .344 OBA while blowing three of his four save opportunities.
