The Boston Red Sox released veteran pitcher Carlos Martinez Tuesday. They had previously signed him to a minor-league deal just over a week ago. (Boston Globe)
Fantasy Impact:
Martinez' career has seen a huge fall from grace. Just a few seasons ago he posted a 3.11 ERA with 117 K's in 118 2/3 innings. Now the veteran righty cannot find a home. He began the year with the Giants farm system before being cut and was unable to make it to the big club in Boston, despite their pitching woes. We might be seeing the end to his major league career.
