Christian Vazquez notches three hits in loss to Orioles

by Andersen Pickard | Twins Correspondent | Sun, May 29th 8:37am EDT

Red Sox catcher Christian Vazquez, who hit fifth during Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Orioles, went 3-for-4 with a double, two singles, and an RBI. Boston ultimately fell to Baltimore by a score of 4-2 in Game 2.

Fantasy Impact:

After a relatively slow start to the season (.217/.240/.283 with four RBI in April), Vazquez has truly turned things around. He is slashing .343/.405/.463 with 15 RBI in May, all while drawing six walks and striking out just 12 times. He has widened the gap between himself and the club's backup catcher, Kevin Plawecki. Vazquez's offensive production is rare at the catcher position. If he continues to produce at a high level, he will become a top name in fantasy baseball leagues.
