Anthony Banda only pitched 1/3 innings, allowing two earned runs on two hits and a walk during Toronto's loss to Seattle on Thursday.
It was the first start for the Blue Jays for Banda, who was recently acquired from Pittsburgh. He allowed a couple of RBI singles before being pulled early. He had a 1-0 record with a 6.41 ERA and 1.98 WHIP in 23 games with the Pirates and now has an 0-1 record with 13.50 ERA and 3.00 WHIP with his new team. He may get another chance to start as Yusei Kikuchi has hit the injured list with a neck strain.
