Jon Berti avoids arbitration with one-year deal

The Miami Marlins and infielder Jon Berti have avoided arbitration and agreed to a one-year contract. (Christina De Nicola on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

As De Nicola notes, the deal comes with a club option for the 2024 season as well. While Berti doesn't offer much in terms of power with a career .109 isolated power, Berti's 41 stolen bases from last season lead all of baseball and came in just 102 games played. That's a far cry from the eight he stole in 85 games in the 2021 campaign. Unfortunately, Berti's playing time is set to take a hit with Luis Arraez in the picture at his second-base position. He projects for another 20-plus steal season, however, a total lack of home-run power puts a hard cap on his fantasy upside.
