Eligibility
The Miami Marlins and infielder Jon Berti have avoided arbitration and agreed to a one-year contract.
Fantasy Impact
As De Nicola notes, the deal comes with a club option for the 2024 season as well. While Berti doesn't offer much in terms of power with a career .109 isolated power, Berti's 41 stolen bases from last season lead all of baseball and came in just 102 games played. That's a far cry from the eight he stole in 85 games in the 2021 campaign. Unfortunately, Berti's playing time is set to take a hit with Luis Arraez in the picture at his second-base position. He projects for another 20-plus steal season, however, a total lack of home-run power puts a hard cap on his fantasy upside.
Jon Berti went 3-for-5 with a solo homer, two RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases in Monday's 10-3 win over the Cubs.
Fantasy Impact
Stolen base are nothing new from Berti this season, as he leads the bigs with 36 now. The across-the-board production Monday night was a rarity from the versatile speedster. Fantasy owners would love to see more of it here over the last few weeks of the season, but that seems quite unlikely. Still, Berti delivers strong value with his ability on the base paths alone.
Jon Berti went 1-for-4 with a single, a walk, two RBI, three runs scored, and two stolen bases in Monday night's 10-6 win over the Rangers.
Fantasy Impact
It was quite a day for Berti, as he went 1-for-4 with an RBI in game one of Monday's doubleheader and followed up with this loaded stat line in game two. Berti is now up to an MLB-leading 34 steals on the year, easily making him the most relevant Marlins position player in terms of fantasy value right now.
Jon Berti went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and a stolen base in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Rays.
Fantasy Impact
Berti added to his MLB lead in stolen bases Wednesday night, swiping his 32nd bag of the year. In addition to that, the typically light-hitting speedster smacked his first homer since all the way back on May 4. In a Marlins offense that has been ravaged by injuries and some disappointing production this year, Berti remains one of the few bright spots and fantasy assets.
Jon Berti was activated off the 10-Day IL on Friday after missing nearly a month with a groin injury.
Fantasy Impact
Berti has impacted leagues with his stolen bases. He has 28 on the season to pair with two home runs and a .271/.365./375 slash line. Berti is likely to play a utility role but could find regular playing time thanks to his versatility.
