Baltimore Orioles reliever Nick Vespi is planning to throw a pair of live batting practice sessions this week as he recovers from hernia surgery. (MLB.com)

Fantasy Impact:

Vespi underwent a hernia operation on Jan. 5 and recently threw a 35-pitch bullpen session. His next step is two live batting practice sessions this week while he remains hopeful for Opening Day. The left-hander made his MLB debut in 2022, tossing a 4.10 ERA alongside a solid 17.9% K-BB% across 25 appearances, collecting his first career MLB save in the process. He also did not allow a single earned run across 26 appearances at the Triple-A level as he figures to be a key cog in the Orioles' bullpen in 2023.
