Fantasy Impact:

Hampson was a non-roster invitee to Marlins camp and has his contract selected largely due to an out clause in his deal this week. Marlins manager Skip Schumaker said Hampson's ability to play up the middle at the second base, shortstop, and center field positions is an asset. The 28-year-old was non-tendered by the Rockies this winter after he struggled mightily to a .211 average with two homers, 12 steals, and a .594 OPS in 90 games in 2022. His 55 wRC+ represented a figure 45% below the league average at the plate but he will get a chance to crack the Marlins' Opening Day roster in large part to his defensive versatility.
