Jordan Lawlar will be promoted when ready

Diamondbacks general manager Mike Hazen reaffirmed that top prospect Jordan Lawlar will be promoted to the big leagues when he is deemed ready, despite the team's recent four-year extension for shortstop Geraldo Perdomo, per Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports.

Fantasy Impact:

Lawlar was expected to compete for MLB playing time in 2024, but injuries limited him to just 23 games last season. He has been getting reps at third base in the minors, a trend likely to continue in 2025 as he starts the year at Triple-A Reno. While his path to shortstop is blocked for now, Hazen suggested Lawlar could still contribute as a bench piece if he proves to be one of the team’s best 13 players. Fantasy managers in dynasty leagues should monitor his progress, as he could earn a midseason call-up if his bat forces the issue.
