Max Scherzer having issues with thumb injury

Max Scherzer stated Monday that he is still having issues with his thumb injury when he crosses the 50-pitch mark. (Keegan Matheson on Twitter)

Scherzer also shared that he has been dealing with this thumb injury since 2024, and it has led to other injuries elsewhere for him in the past. Expect the Jays to be cautious with the veteran to open the season. If Scherzer is unable to get through the thumb injury by Opening Day, he will likely open the season on the injured list.
