Justin Verlander allowed two earned runs on six hits and one walk while striking out five over five innings in Saturday's loss to the Reds.

Despite the solid strikeout rate, Verlander fell victim to a lack of run support in his first start on the mound this season. The veteran right-hander will play a key role in the San Francisco rotation this season.
