Colton Gordon a candidate for Astros start Wednesday

Houston Astros general manager Dana Brown stated Sunday that Colton Gordon is a candidate to be called up from Triple-A Sugar Land to start Wednesday's game against the Royals in Houston, reports Brian McTaggart of MLB.com. An opening in the rotation was created by Hayden Wesneski's (elbow) recent move to the injured list. Houston is also planning to temporarily use a six-man rotation during a current stretch of 17 games in 17 days. (Brian McTaggart)

Gordon has yet to make his Major League debut. In eight starts with Triple-A Sugar Land this season, he has posted a 2.55 ERA and 1.21 WHIP with a 43:8 K:BB ratio over 42.1 innings.
