Griffin Canning walks five, allows six runs in loss

Griffin Canning (6-3) was tagged with the loss Sunday against the Rays after allowing a season-high six earned runs over 4.1 innings. The New York right-hander yielded four hits and a season-worst five walks while striking out two. Canning did not allow an extra-base hit but generated just eight swinging strikes on 89 pitches.

Fantasy Impact:

Over his last six outings (26.2 innings), Canning has posted a 6.08 ERA with a 21:17 K:BB ratio, a downturn from the 2.36 ERA he recorded over his first 42 frames of the season. His next start is currently scheduled for next weekend at division rival Philadelphia.
