Jason Alexander earns win in spot start Tuesday
by Bruno Mulé | Astros Correspondent | Wed, Jun 18th 12:17pm EDT
Jason Alexander (1-0) picked up the win for the Houston Astros on Tuesday against the Athletics, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits and three walks over six-plus innings. The 32-year-old right-hander struck out four batters and threw 56 of his 95 pitches for strikes. Alexander was making a spot start after being called up Monday.
Fantasy Impact:
The spot start was necessitated by an injury to Lance McCullers (foot). Tuesday's performance was a turnaround from Alexander's time with the Athletics earlier this season, where he allowed 12 earned runs over six innings in four relief appearances. His spot in the Astros' rotation going forward is unclear, as the team has off days for the last two Mondays of June.
