Justin Wrobleski gets win after allowing tying runs

by Bruno Mulé | Dodgers Correspondent | Thu, Jun 19th 10:34am EDT

Justin Wrobleski (2-2) earned the win for the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday against San Diego despite allowing the Padres to tie the game in the ninth inning. Pitching in long relief behind opener Emmet Sheehan, Wrobleski allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits while striking out three over five innings without issuing a walk. He was perfect through his first four frames before running into trouble in the ninth, but a walk-off homer by Will Smith secured his victory.

Fantasy Impact:

The southpaw has posted a 2.79 ERA and 0.93 WHIP across his last four appearances (19.1 innings), a significant turnaround from his season debut on April 8 when he gave up eight runs in five frames. It's unclear if the 24-year-old will continue to piggyback with Sheehan or settle into more of a regular long-relief role for the Dodgers.
