Shane Smith allowed two earned runs on four hits and one walk while striking out eight over five innings in Thursday's loss to the Mariners.

After today’s outing, Smith holds a 4.22 ERA and 1.29 WHIP with 3 wins and 7 losses across 20 starts this season. It's been a little bit of a rough patch for Smith since June 10. Since then, he's only made it out of the sixth inning once, and has a 7.49 ERA and 8.8 K/9. Fantasy managers will appreciate the strikeout rate, but the low volume and lack of upside make him no better than a streaming option. He gets the Tigers next time out.
