MJ Melendez agrees to one-year deal with Mets

MJ Melendez has signed a one-year deal with the New York Mets. The contract is worth $1.5 million with an additional $500K in incentives. (Jon Heyman on X)
Fantasy Impact:
Melendez, a former top prospect in the Royals' organization, has yet to put things together at the big league level. He has played parts of four seasons in Kansas City and has slashed .215/.297/.388 in 1,652 career plate appearances. The outfielder, who also has catching experience, was limited to 23 games last year and had just five hits in 65 plate appearances. Melendez will likely begin the year in Triple-A Syracuse, but should see time in New York at some point.
