Martin Perez roster chances improving

Joey Wentz was diagnosed with a torn right ACL on Monday, creating additional need in the Braves' rotation. Atlanta's schedule opens with 13 games in 13 days, increasing the likelihood the organization carries six starting pitchers. Manager Walt Weiss said "I love the fact that Martin's in our camp, the guy can still really pitch." Perez is now positioned as the favorite to open the season as the sixth starter or potential swingman.
