by David Leisering | Braves Correspondent | Mon, Mar 9th 5:38pm EDT

Joey Wentz (knee) will miss the entire 2026 season with a torn ACL in his right knee. Wentz was injured in a collision at first base against the Rays in a spring training game on Sunday. (Mark Bowman on X)

Fantasy Impact:

The hits just keep on coming for the Atlanta Braves as Wentz becomes the third pitcher to be lost for the entire 2026 season prior to Opening Day. It's an unfortunate blow for Wentz as he was competing for the fifth spot in the Atlanta rotation. The Braves will now likely turn to Bryce Elder to fill the role with veterans Martin Perez and Carlos Carrasco, along with youngster JR Ritchie, waiting in the wings. Lucas Giolito among others are still on the market should the Braves decide to go that route. However, there has been no inclination that Atlanta is looking outside the organization.
