Mayer has provided mixed results at the plate to begin the season, collecting hits in three of seven contests for the Red Sox. After Friday's win over San Diego, the 23-year-old remains one of the more reliable options as part of an underperforming Boston lineup, batting .294 with one home run, three doubles, five runs scored and two RBI across seven games.
