Michael Lorenzen saddled with loss Tuesday despite solid outing

by David Leisering | Rockies Correspondent | Wed, May 13th 6:34am EDT

Michael Lorenzen allowed two runs on five hits in five innings on Tuesday, but the Rockies lost to the Pirates, 3-1. The veteran walked two and struck out five.

Fantasy Impact:

Lorenzen pitched well enough to deserve a better fate on Tuesday, but had the unenviable task of going up against Paul Skenes in Pittsburgh. Lorenzen performed well, allowing two runs or fewer for just the third time in nine starts this season. The veteran is struggling in his first year with the Rockies, pitching to a 2-5 record with a 6.55 ERA and a 1.84 WHIP in 44 innings. He ranks last in the National League, among qualified pitchers, in both ERA and WHIP and has allowed opponents to hit .347 off of him (67 hits in 44 innings). He's scheduled to get the ball again on Sunday at home against Arizona.
