Casey Mize electric in win over Yankees Monday

by Brenton Kemp | Tigers Correspondent | Tue, Jun 30th 11:35am EDT

Tigers right-hander Casey Mize pitched seven scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts while earning the win over the Yankees on Monday.

Fantasy Impact:

Mize absolutely stifled the Yankees in this one, allowing just one hit -- a single -- and zero walks while punching out 10 Yankees hitters on the evening. Perhaps most impressive is that he accomplished the feat in just 88 pitches. Had the Tigers not been leading 7-0 at the time of his departure, a complete game shutout could have theoretically been in the cards. Nonetheless, the former No. 1 pick lowered his ERA to a tidy 2.63 mark through 12 starts and will look to keep rolling either on Sunday against the Rangers or on Tuesday against the Athletics, depending on whether the Tigers adopt a six-man rotation with Jack Flaherty returning from the IL this week.
