Andrew Benintendi, who's been heavily involved in trade rumors over the last few weeks, would "shock" a rival executive if he was not traded before the end of the weekend, per Mark Feinsand.
Multiples teams, including the A's, Astros, Rangers, and Marlins have been linked to Benintendi over the last few weeks. His market is really heating up and this latest rumor make it sound as if a deal is imminent before the end of the week. Boston is just looking for the best return at this point. Despite his recent struggles, he's still just 26-years-old and is under team-control through the 2022 season. Stay tuned.
Andrew Benintendi has been involved in trade talks over the last few weeks and the Miami Marlins are one of those teams, a source inside the Red Sox told Jim Bowden of The Athletic.
Bowden reported earlier that several teams not just the Marlins, were involved in "serious talks" with the Red Sox about Benintendi. So far, though, Boston and Miami have not been able to agree on a return part of the deal. Benintendi is coming off of a horrendous 2020 in which he slashed just .103/.314/.128 over 14 games. He's still just 26-years-old and a change of scenery could do him some good.
The Athletic's Jim Bowden reports the Red Sox are in "serious trade talks with multiple teams" in regards to dealing OF Andrew Benintendi.
Bowden adds that Boston is looking for a prospect in return, specifically a pitcher or an outfielder. He also adds that "nothing is imminent" regarding a trade. Benintendi appeared in just 14 games this summer and hit a paltry .103/.314/.128. He also had a down season in 2019, so his shine as an up-and-coming star has faded. Still just 26 years old, it wouldn't be a complete surprise for Benintendi to have a rebound season in 2021, regardless of where he ends up.
Red Sox manager Ron Roenicke says Andrew Benintendi (rib) is done for the season.
Additonally, Benintendi was transferred to the 45-day IL. It's the end to a short-but-brutal 2020 season for the 26-year-old. Coming off a down year in 2019 many were hoping the former top prospect could bounce back. Instead, things only got worse. Benintendi finishes with a .103 average and a .442 OPS in 14 games.
Red Sox manager Ron Roenicke says Andrew Benintendi (rib) might not return this season.
It's not a huge surprise as the most recent update we had before this one was that it was going to be a while before Benintendi came back. The 26-year-old unfortunately continued to regress this summer, hitting a woeful .103 before getting injured. He has had enough success at the big league level that we shouldn't give up on him entirely.
