Anthony Seigler has been called up from Triple-A Worcester ahead of Wednesday's game against the Orioles.

With Nick Sogard (side) landing on the IL, Seigler was promoted to the Red Sox roster Wednesday morning. Acquired from Milwaukee back in February, Seigler has had an excellent season in the minors to this point, slashing .298/.425/.471 with three homers and 21 RBI over 30 games.

Seigler was unable to get into any spring games for the Red Sox after making his MLB debut for the Brewers last season. The 26-year-old struggled to a .194 average without a homer in that time, but has a monster season at Triple-A where he hit .285 with eight homers, 23 stolen bases, and an .892 OPS across 72 games.
Seigler was acquired from Milwaukee in a trade this offseason. Manager Alex Cora said Tuesday that Seigler is nursing a knee injury initially suffered during the Dominican Winter League.

Seigler felt fine at the start of camp, but the knee is now bothering him again. He is competing for a reserve role with Boston.
