Athletics infielder Zack Gelof could see time in the outfield this season, according to skipper Mark Kotsay. (Source: MLB.com)
Fantasy Impact: Gelof underwent shoulder surgery in September but said he feels good and he's ready to contribute to the club right away this season. The 26-year-old second baseman suddenly sees his spot on the Opening Day roster in doubt after the club not only acquired second baseman Jeff McNeil from the Mets this winter, but also after he struggled in 2024 and struggled even more in 2025 while appearing in just 30 games due to injuries. His 69-game rookie season in 2023 when he hit 14 homers alongside an .841 OPS could help afford him an opportunity to break camp with the big club this season.

Fantasy Impact: Mariners general manager Jerry DiPito said that Emerson will get spring training reps at third base and mentioned his versatility to play second base and shortstop, as well. The 20-year-old likely remains a long shot to break camp with the club as he's played just six games above Double-A and began last season in High-A ball, alongside the club's acquisition of utility man Brendan Donovan from the Cardinals.
