Ariel Jurado was optioned by the Mets on Tuesday as the team needed to make room for Robinson Chirinos, Todd Frazier, and Miguel Castro.
Franklyn Kilome and Ali Sánchez were also optioned. Jurado struggled in his only start this year when he gave up five runs over four innings against the Orioles on Monday.

Jurado was bailed out by the offense on Tuesday but did not exactly impress in his team debut. He was filling in after the Mets played a number of doubleheaders over the weekend, and it is unlikely that he sticks in the rotation going forward.

Jurado has now surrendered five runs for the fifth time in his last six appearances. He owns a 5.78 ERA and 1.50 WHIP with 79 strikeouts in 118 1/3 innings this season. His next scheduled start is Monday, away against the Astros.
