The Twins placed Bailey Ober on the 10-day IL on Saturday with a groin strain. The team recalled RHP Cole Sands from Triple-A St. Paul to take Ober's place on the roster.
The move was expected after Ober left Thursday's game against the Tigers in the top of the fourth inning with the injury. He was off to a fine start with a 2.75 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP. It's not clear how long Ober will be out, but he's worth holding onto in deeper leagues given his solid ratios and upside.
Bailey Ober allowed one run on six hits while striking out three in 3 2/3 innings of Thursday's 7-1 win over the Tigers.
Ober turned in a solid outing on Thursday, but he was forced to leave in the fourth inning with groin tightness. He is currently listed as day-to-day, so whether or not he will require a trip to the injured list will likely be revealed in the coming days.
Twins starting pitcher Bailey Ober was solid on the mound Friday night, allowing one run on five hits while also striking out six, as he picked up the no-decision in the Twins' 2-1 win over the White Sox.
Ober has allowed one run or less in his last two starts on the mound for the Twins. The righthander carries a respectable 2.81 earned run average and 1.00 WHIP with 13 strikeouts in 16 innings pitched in three starts this season.
Twins starter Bailey Ober allowed two runs (zero earned) over six innings of work against the Red Sox on Sunday. He surrendered four hits and a walk while striking out three batters. Minnesota ultimately fell to Boston by a score of 8-1.
Ober is now 1-1 with a 3.27 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 5.73 K/9, and 2.45 BB/9 this season. The second-year right-hander impressed last year and is off to a strong start in 2022. Fantasy managers should monitor Ober in any leagues in which he's available.
Bailey Ober picked up his first win of the season in Sunday's 10-4 victory over the Mariners, giving up four runs on four hits and two walks while striking out four over 5.0 innings.
Ober got plenty of run support Sunday afternoon and lasted long enough to earn a victory. The second-year hurler's only troublesome inning was a four-run third, but he managed to pull things back together and hold the Mariners scoreless in the fourth and fifth frames. Ober turned in a respectable 4.19 ERA and stellar 96-to-19 K/BB ratio across 20 starts (92.1 innings) as a rookie in 2021. The Twins are relying on him to take the next step in his progression this year. Ober is slated to return to the mound Saturday in Boston.
