Tigers outfielder Ben Malgeri went 1-for-4 with a walk, a homer and an additonal run scored in a 13-1 rout of the A's on Friday.
Fantasy Impact
It looked as if Malgeri wouldn't get in on the offensive fun in Sacramento on Friday, that is until he launched his first career homer, a two-run shot in the ninth to cap his club's offensive outburst. Malgeri was summoned from Triple-A to help out against left-handed pitching in late June, but figures to see more playing time in a depleted Tigers outfield down the stretch. The 26-year-old has handled himself well when given an opportunity, hitting .282 with a homer, a healthy 14.9% BB%, and a .793 OPS through his first 47 big league plate appearances.
The Tigers are calling up Ben Malgeri from Triple-A Toledo.
Fantasy Impact
Malgeri will make his MLB debut when he gets into a game. He was hitting .296 with nine home runs, 34 RBI and eight stolen bases in Triple-A.
