Clarke, the Red Sox No. 5 prospect (MLB.com) at the time of the trade, is one of two young pitchers, along with Richard Fitts, being sent to St. Louis in exchange for Sonny Gray. Clarke was selected in the fifth round of the 2024 draft and has yet to pitch above High-A ball. He did rack up 60 strikeouts alongside a 4.03 ERA in 38 innings between High-A and Single-A in 2025. Clark also walked 27 batters, so his control needs significant improvement.
