Chandler struck out a season-low one batter on Friday, but now has gone three straight starts allowing two earned runs or fewer. The only real mistake he made was serving up a solo home run to TJ Rumfield in the fourth. Chandler has struggled to a 2-7 record with a 4.62 ERA through 15 appearances (14 starts) this season. He's lined up to get the Mariners at home on Thursday in his next outing.

Chandler has pitched better in June, going 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA and a 0.94 WHIP in three appearances (two starts). More importantly, however, is that he has posted a 16:5 K:BB ratio in 16 innings during the stretch. The young righthander will take a 2-7 record and a 4.76 ERA into his next scheduled start in Colorado on Friday.

Chandler allowed one baserunner - a two-out single by Sandy Leon in the second - over his first five innings of work after replacing Mason Montgomery, who served as the opener. However, Chandler ran into problems in the seventh as an error and back-to-back walks with one out loaded the bases and ended his afternoon. Evan Sisk came on and allowed a bases clearing double to Michael Harris II with all three runs charged to Chandler. Despite the loss, it was a very encouraging outing for the young righthander and, in his last four appearances, Chandler has a 26:9 K:BB ratio in 20.1 innings. Overall, he is 2-7 with a 4.91 ERA and a 62:40 K:BB ratio in 62.1 innings. He's lined up to take on the Marlins, at home, on Saturday, but it's unclear what his role will be.

Chandler has allowed four runs in three of his last four starts. We've seen some starters pitch better behind openers, so it'll be worth monitoring to see if that is the case for Chandler.

He walked three and struck out a career-high 11 batters - the first time he has reached double figures in his brief career. However, he was done in by three costly Pittsburgh errors - two of which led to a pair of unearned runs in the third inning. Chandler dropped to 1-6 on the season, but did lower his ERA to 4.79. He'll look to build off this start when he takes the mound again Wednesday in a home start against the Cubs.
