The Seattle Mariners have acquired pitcher Carlos Vargas along with catcher Seby Zavala from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for third baseman Eugenio Suarez.

While Zavala is a solid defensive backup catcher, Vargas is the notable get from the D-backs. While he struggled to a 7.02 ERA in 38 Triple-A appearances with Reno last season and allowed three earned runs in 4 2/3 innings with Arizona, his fastball averaged 99.5 mph and he is just 24 years of age.
