Carmen Mlodzinski reinstated from restricted list

Carmen Mlodzinski was reinstated from the restricted list by the Pirates on Monday after he was placed on the list the day before.

Fantasy Impact

Mlodzinski was reportedly disgruntled about his move to the bullpen. However, the righthander did not consider a trade request and "wants to do what's best to help us win baseball games." Mlodzinski is 4-3 with a 3.76 ERA in 11 appearances (nine starts) this season and is expected to be available out of the Pittsburgh bullpen when it starts a series against the Astros on Tuesday.

Carmen Mlodzinski expected to be available Sunday

Carmen Mlodzinski is expected to be available for the Pirates on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact

Mlodzinski was moved to the bullpen earlier this week. It is possible that it means Braxton Ashcraft will be in line for a shorter start.

Carmen Mlodzinski will move to the bullpen

Carmen Mlodzinski will move out of the Pirates' rotation and into the bullpen.

Fantasy Impact

With Jared Jones (elbow) set to make his much-anticipated return to the rotation, the Pirates will shift Mlodzinski to the bullpen for the time being. Mlodzinski has made nine of his 11 appearances so far this season as a starter, with the other two as a bulk reliever following an opener. The 27-year-old righty hasn't been bad, posting a 3.76 ERA with 46 strikeouts across 55 innings, and it would not be surprising to see him start again this season.

Carmen Mlodzinski throws five solid innings Monday

Carmen Mlodzinski went five innings on Monday and allowed a run on five hits, walked three, and struck out two in the Pirates' 2-1 win over the Cubs.

Fantasy Impact

Mlodzinski's only mistake of the afternoon came with two outs in the fifth when Michael Busch connected on a solo home run to tie the game at 1-1. Otherwise, it was another solid outing for the righthander as he has pitched to a 3.38 ERA in five appearances (four starts) this month. Overall, Mlodzinski is 4-3 with a 3.76 ERA in 11 outings (nine starts) and, while he's not a must-own starter in fantasy, you could certainly do worse as a back-end of your rotation arm. He's scheduled to take on the Twins at home on Saturday in his next start.
