2B,3B,LF,RF - OAK - IL10
Chad Pinder has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 hamstring strain.
Pinder was already placed on the IL and is likely sidelined for the remainder of the regular season. Oakland is hopeful that he can make it back during postseason play.
Chad Pinder was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a "moderate" right hamstring strain.
Pinder is heading for an MRI on Monday to confirm the severity of his hamstring strain. With Matt Chapman (hip) ruled out for the season, Pinder was expected to take on a larger role. Look for Tommy LaStella and Vimael Machin to see additional at-bats with Pinder sidelined.
Chad Pinder was scratched from the second game of Saturday's doubleheader due to a hamstring strain.
A's manager Bob Melvin said that Pinder will likely require an IL stint. Expect the team to update his status sometime on Sunday.
Chad Pinder went 1-for-3 with an RBI single in the A's 3-1 win over the Astros on Thursday.
Pinder smacked an RBI single off Andre Scrubb in the bottom of the seventh to score Mark Canha and tack on an insurance run to put Oakland up 3-1. The 28-year old utility man has been an afterthought this season and the recent acquisition of Tommy La Stella has pushed him down in the lineup; he's been hitting eighth since his return from paternity leave. Thursday's RBI was Pinder's first since August 16th. He's now slashing .231/.286/.404 to go along with two home runs and seven RBI across 52 at-bats.
Chad Pinder was placed on Paternity Leave, Tuesday. He is likely to rejoin the team over the weekend. Seth Brown has been recalled in a corresponding move.
Pinder is slashing .200/.273/.375 over 40 at-bats this season. He has increased his exit velocity from 90.9 MPH last season to 92 MPH this season. Throughout his career Pinder has been a superior hitter against left-handed pitchers but this season he is batting .100 points lower against lefties than righties. This discrepancy is probably due to small sample size. He makes an interesting DFS play when the A's face a lefty and he hits in the top half of their line-up but owners may want to see him show signs of life before trusting him in their line-ups. He can be left on the waiver wire in 12-team standard redraft leagues.
