Cole Ragans allowed zero earned runs on four hits and one walk while striking out eight over six innings in Thursday's loss to the Twins.
Fantasy Impact
Ragans was much better in this outing than in Opening Week. He allowed only one walk compared to four in game one, and his one hard-hit ball across 89 pitches is extremely impressive. He got 16 swings and misses and deserved better than a 0-1 deficit when he left the game. He lines up for an AL Central double start next week against the Guardians and White Sox.
Cole Ragans allowed four earned runs on six hits and four walks while striking out five over four innings in Friday's loss to Atlanta.
Fantasy Impact
Ragans really struggled to find the zone, giving up four walks for the first time since September 2024. His velocity was down ever so slightly on the fastball, but it's not enough to warrant concern. He'll look to limit the walks next time out against the Twins.
Lefthander Cole Ragans has been named the Opening Day starter for the Kansas City Royals according to manager, Matt Quatraro. It will be Ragans' third consecutive Opening Day start.
Fantasy Impact
Ragans battled through an injury-plagued 2025 season and has not pitched well this spring, but this was an expected decision as he's earned it with a solid track record. He went 3-3 with a 4.67 ERA in 12 starts a year ago, but did have an impressive 98:20 K:BB ratio in just 61.2 innings. He has allowed 10 earned runs in 10.2 innings this spring. Ragans is just two years removed from an All-Star season and a fourth-place finish in the AL Cy Young voting. If he remains healthy, he's an excellent bounce back candidate in 2026.
The Red Sox are showing trade interest in Royals starter Cole Ragans.
Fantasy Impact
Ragans is likely only to be traded if they get a big return. Boston is continuing to look to improve its pitching and adding Ragans would be a huge help. This will remain a situation to monitor as the offseason progresses.
Cole Ragans struck out eight batters while allowing just two hits and one walk over 4.1 scoreless innings in Sunday’s victory against the Athletics.
Fantasy Impact
Following Sunday's final start, Ragans's season totals are a 4.67 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and a 3-3 record over 13 appearances.
