The Cincinnati Reds have signed left-handed pitcher Daniel Norris to a minor-league deal with an invite to MLB spring training.
Fantasy Impact
Once a top prospect, Norris has struggled to consistently put it together in his big-league career. The southpaw owns a 4.71 ERA across 208 appearances (86 starts). He split the 2022 season between the Cubs and Tigers, pitching to a 5.22 ERA across 58 2/3 innings, but finished strong with a 3.45 ERA across two starts and 12 relief appearances with the Tigers down the stretch.
Daniel Norris allowed one run on four hits in five innings in an 8-4 loss to Cleveland on Wednesday. Norris escaped with a no-decision while striking out four and walking two.
Fantasy Impact
Norris was in line for the win before the bullpen allowed six runs in the eighth inning. The veteran lefty has been excellent in his two starts since joining the Tigers, allowing just one run over 9 2/3 innings. That being said, Norris is likely headed to the bullpen with Eduardo Rodriguez rejoining the rotation next week.
Daniel Norris tossed 4 2/3 shutout innings in a 2-0 loss to the White Sox on Friday. Norris struck out one and walked two while taking a no-decision.
Fantasy Impact
Norris was making just his second start of the season as he has mostly worked in relief before the Cubs released him a few weeks back. The 29-year-old hurler now has a 0-4 record, 5.97 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, and 44 strikeouts over 34 2/3 innings of work. Now that Tarik Skubal is lost for the season, look for Norris to remain in the starting rotation moving forward. His next start is scheduled to come against Cleveland on Wednesday.
Daniel Norris pitched two innings, allowing one earned run, two hits, one walk, while striking out four in a 5-3 loss to St. Louis Sunday.
Fantasy Impact
Norris falls to 0-4 in 18 games this season. The 29-year-old has struggled in his first season with Chicago. In 21 innings pitched, he has a 1.10 WHIP and a 5.14 ERA. Norris is best left off fantasy rosters right now.
On Saturday night, Daniel Norris took the loss in the Cubs' bullpen game 6-2 defeat to the Dodgers.
Fantasy Impact
Norris pitched 1 1/3 innings with three walks, three earned runs, and only one strikeout. The 29-year-old relief pitcher has nine strikeouts in 7 1/3 innings with an unsightly 8.59 ERA and 1.23 WHIP.
