The Padres are evaluating David Morgan as a possible addition to their 2026 starting rotation, Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon of The Athletic report. While Mason Miller and Adrian Morejon are the more prominent bullpen arms being discussed for starting roles, Morgan is also in the mix. The 26-year-old converted infielder, who began pitching in 2022, recorded a 2.66 ERA with a 50:23 K:BB across 47.1 innings this season. He made two opener appearances for San Diego but last made a traditional start in 2022 at Hope International, an NAIA program.
Fantasy Impact
Morgan’s strong performance in limited action has earned him consideration for an expanded role next year. His lack of starting experience, however, means the Padres will likely evaluate his workload carefully during spring training.

Fantasy Impact
With no reported issues after throwing a simulated game on Sunday, Morgan is set to be activated from the injured list when first eligible on Wednesday.

Fantasy Impact

Fantasy Impact

Fantasy Impact
Morgan takes the roster spot of Michael King who was placed on the injured list. He should hold onto a middle relief role in the Padres bullpen.
